Key Events in IOC’s History

Est. 1983

IOC was established in 1983 as a fertilizer marketer. The company’s industry expertise and reliability yielded IOC’s tremendous growth.

Containers including those with IOC's agricultural and industrial product are distributed across the country and around the world.

Export & Import

IOC entered into the United States Phosphates export market . With keen market intelligence and reliable logistics, the company established itself as a prudent partner . This further allowed IOC to become a major importer of UAN and other commodities to the United States.

Domestic Markets: Barge Marketing

With the establishment of further marketing contracts IOC became a leader in NOLA. IOC provided various bulk fertilizer products to wholesalers and retailers. Increased market activity and industry knowledge allowed IOC to procure and deliver products into the American heartland and more.

Domestic Markets: Warehousing

To better provide service to IOC’s clientele, IOC expanded into long term storage. IOC’s inland port & rail terminals further allowed IOC to reach more customers and store larger volumes of product. This allowed for providing product consistently throughout the year, both during and outside of peak seasons.

Ammonium Sulfate Distribution

IOC became the exclusive marketer and distributor for a major ammonium sulfate producer . IOC would transfer the plants product through IOC’s expansive logistics system thereby providing a steady outlet for the producer in an ever-cyclical market.

Phosphate Distribution

IOC provided exclusive domestic marketing of phosphates in the United States for a major U.S. phosphate producer. IOC leveraged existing clientele and logistical assets to bring finished phosphate production to market.

PCI Nitrogen

In 2016, an affiliate of IOC acquires Pasadena, Texas based fertilizer plant renaming it PCI Nitrogen. PCI Nitrogen produces Ammonium Sulfate, Ammonium Thio Sulfate, & Sulfuric Acid.

Procurement & Industrial Marketing

With the establishment of PCI, IOC began marketing all of PCI’s product and became PCI’s supplier of feedstock & raw materials.

IOC brought an anti-dumping case to the FTC and won in court.

The Chimico Logistics logo and company name.

Chimico Logistics Established

IOC quickly adapted to PCI’s needs and established Chimico Logistics. Chimico’s first purchase was an ammonia barge, one of only 33 available in the domestic U.S. at the time. The first barge, christened AZNOP, was dedicated to ammonia supply to PCI Nitrogen and other gulf coast clients. A sulfuric acid barge was acquired shortly after to augment barge logistics

Chimico Rail is established to provide rail logistics and support to PCI Nitrogen and its customers. Chimico acquired a fleet of sulfuric acid railcars to provide reliability to the plant and its customers. Chimico will continue to increase its fleet size and footprint.
